The biggest World Cup in history: 48 teams, 104 matches, and 3 host nations. Here is everything you need to know.
The 2026 World Cup is the first ever hosted jointly by three nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This tri-nation partnership has dramatically expanded the tournament's scale.
The number of participating teams expanded from 32 to 48 — the largest expansion in World Cup history. Nations that have never qualified, or rarely done so, will finally appear on football's biggest stage.
